In this article, we define Ceniza al viento (1942), by Luis Saslavsky, as a transitional film. This assertion is problematic, in the sense that it would be inaccurate regarding Saslavsky’s oeuvre as a whole and extreme in the context of Argentine film history. However, we believe it is valuable to propose this label, as we consider that the film reveals, first, the transition required by the introduction of the noir in the fictional construction of the social environment and, second, that the emphasis on this feature allows us to classify Ceniza al viento as a crime film that shares and questions certain characteristics of film noir.
