Code of ethics and plagiarism policies

La cifra impar. Revista de estudios de audiovisuales maintains an ethical policy for all its contents in relation to plagiarism and self-plagiarism, and adheres to the international ethical publication standards established in COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The articles received are examined with specific software to detect plagiarism and self-plagiarism, falsification and/or manipulation of data, multiple or redundant publication. If any of these practices are detected in a work received, the Editorial Committee and the author will be notified, and the publication of said work will be immediately canceled.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

 

The proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) has led to their widespread use, and their utility for scientific advancement is promising. However, concerns exist regarding validity, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability in the use of AI/LLMs in scientific publishing. Therefore, the journal shall be governed by the following rules:

 

Authors must not list AI or AI-assisted technologies as authors or cite them as such. La cifra impar. Revista de estudios de audiovisuales does not permit the use of artificial intelligence or LLMs in the drafting of any part of the article. The use of AI/LLMs to draft all or part of the article will result in its automatic rejection.

 

Editors, authors, and reviewers must be transparent about the use of AI tools at any stage of the editorial process, including the preparation, editing, and review of manuscripts. When AI is used, the specific tool and the purpose of its use must be disclosed. Failure to disclose the use of AI may lead to corrective measures and, in some cases, be considered a serious infraction. If undisclosed AI use is detected, the case will be referred to the Committee for evaluation.

 

Reviewers must comply with the journal's policy on AI use or request permission from the journal before using AI technology to assist with their review. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript; this may preclude uploading it to software or other AI technologies where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, unless explicitly permitted by the journal. Reviewers who use AI in their review must inform the journal of such use and ensure that the content is appropriate and valid, as AI can generate incorrect, incomplete, or biased results.
